What was still is

what-was-still-is

So, today is Halloween. For most, it means donning a costume and partying, taking children trick-or-treating, and watching scary movies. For me, it’s something else. Something special.

14 years ago my husband Tims and I went to the Ada County courthouse at 8:30 am and were married in front of my immediate family and a few friends. He was dressed in a dress shirt and slacks. I was dressed in a beige lace dress and matching shoes. We didn’t do anything fancy because we couldn’t afford it. But that simple wedding was enough for us.

Our reception was brunch at my parents’ house. On our way there, Tims and I stopped at the property management company’s office and picked up the keys to our apartment. We got back to my parents’ house and had brunch. Then with a little help from friends and family, we moved into our apartment.

We’ve had our fair share of ups and downs. We’ve faced some really hard times and there have been talks of divorce. But we’re still together and we’ve managed to work through our problems. I look forward to many more years with my husband.

  1. Happy Anniversary! Your wedding sounds lovely. Fourteen years is a great achievement. Every marriage has its ups and downs, but the fact you are still together after all you’ve dealt with says something about your staying power. Here’s to many more years together. Love you, girl!
